Synopsis:

Dark, dangerous matters happen around the Hollow sisters. Ever since they disappeared as children – only to reappear a month later, with no reminiscence of what had happened to them – odd, eerie occurrences follow in their wake.

When Grey, the eldest, goes lacking again, Iris and Vivi are left to figure out the mystery – but they aren’t the only ones looking for her.

As they brush against the supernatural, Iris realises that the world that returned them ten years ago might be calling them back. But just how much horror lies beneath the surface?

Review:

WHAT. A. BOOK. A few days later and I am still thinking about it.

I loved these characters and the way they were described reminded me so much of We Were Liars character descriptions – like poetry. These sisters have a close bond, which became even closer once they reappeared ten years ago. And Tyler was a surprising addition to the plot.

The plot hooked me from the beginning, with the opening line: “I was ten years old the first time I realized I was strange”. And as it went on it just got more mysterious and eerie. The plot also reveals more approximately the Hollow sisters and the bizarre things that follows them. It reads like a fairytale mixed with horror! One thing I learned from this book is…don’t go through free standing doors!

I loved the writing style. It’s descriptive and informative which is something that’s rare (in my opinion) in standalones. The writing draws you in and makes you want to keep turning the page to find out more about these sisters. The descriptions of both worlds were brilliant and I especially loved the creepy details of the flowers and the story bum the crescents (creepy much Hollows???).

House of Hollow just became one of my favourite books this year! If you’re looking for a read that you won’t be able to put down, I definitely recommend this one!

Thank you so much Jonathan Ball Publishers for this review copy, I absolutely loved it!!!
